Farewell Ceremony held in Cartagena, Colombia, for the Honorary Consul of Sweden, Mr. Humberto Benedetti Lecompte

For his 32 years of service to the Swedish Consulate in Cartagena, Colombia, Mr. Benedetti has provided invaluable service to Sweden by strengthening the relations between Colombia and Sweden. His farewell is followed by the Welcoming Ceremony of his son, Mr. Giovanni Benedetti, who will be the new Honorary Consul.

The ceremony was held in Cartagena, Colombia on the 17th of January, 2012. During the ceremony, the ambassador of Sweden in Colombia, Marie Andersson, congratulated the former consul, Mr. Benedetti and his support during his 32 years of service.

Green Tech Opportunities in Central America Seminar

The Swedish Central American Chamber of Commerce (SWECA) invites all individuals interested, to participate in the seminar in coordination with ÅF regarding “Environmental Studies for Sustainable Energy Development in Honduras.”

The importance of the seminar focuses in showing the example of the Swedish company ÅF and opportunities of Sustainable Energy in Honduras. Being hydroelectric power an increasing solution for renewable energy, the seminar will explore current opportunities that are of great interest for companies and individuals interested in this topic.

The seminar will be on the 22nd of March, 2012 at 17:00 in the Swedish Trade Council. To register, kindly send an email with your information to info@sweca.se no later than March 15, 2012. The Swedish-Colombian Chamber of Commerce will also attend the seminar and take valuable notes that will be helpful for us also. Sustainable Development – The importance of Coffee in Colombia

Colombian coffeeDuring the 4th AAA forum brought by Nespresso on June 2011 in Bogota, Colombia, several topics related to the sustainable development of coffee farms was treated, in favor of offering a higher quality coffee that benefits both the farmers and the consumers. The AAA program consists of working with more than 100 agronomists which involves approximately 30,000 Colombian Growers.

Since its first implementation in 2003, the forums have focused in “reviewing their collaboration and continually improving the sustainable work implemented.” It is important to note the impact of sustainable developed coffee has in Colombia, in terms of employment and quality standards. For that matter, remarkable examples can be found in Colombia such as Jardin, which is a strong coffee farm that offers excellent quality coffee while at the same time, providing benefits for the local farmers and environmentally conscious solutions. Such example has caught the attention of the Coffee Growers Federation in Colombia, which is planning to initiate the AAA standard in Cauca and Nariño, where coffee growers have limited working conditions but the coffee produced is one of the finest qualities.
