During the 4th AAA forum brought by Nespresso on June 2011 in Bogota, Colombia, several topics related to the sustainable development of coffee farms was treated, in favor of offering a higher quality coffee that benefits both the farmers and the consumers. The AAA program consists of working with more than 100 agronomists which involves approximately 30,000 Colombian Growers.
Since its first implementation in 2003, the forums have focused in “reviewing their collaboration and continually improving the sustainable work implemented.” It is important to note the impact of sustainable developed coffee has in Colombia, in terms of employment and quality standards. For that matter, remarkable examples can be found in Colombia such as Jardin, which is a strong coffee farm that offers excellent quality coffee while at the same time, providing benefits for the local farmers and environmentally conscious solutions. Such example has caught the attention of the Coffee Growers Federation in Colombia, which is planning to initiate the AAA standard in Cauca and Nariño, where coffee growers have limited working conditions but the coffee produced is one of the finest qualities.
We invite you to read more about the sustainable development program and the importance that it has in Colombia and the coffee that you might be drinking right now. Below, you will find the link for the main webpage of the AAA program and the Jardin as an example of this development.
